New Caledonia is well known on the international windsurfing circuit, due to the favourable trade winds.
The best spots to practice windsurfing are at the Anse Vata Bay and the 'Côte Blanche' or near the Magenta Domestic Airport. It is also possible to waterski and jetski in New Caledonia.
Windsurfing
The favourite world class windsurfing spots of the Anse Vata and “la Côte-Blanche” in Nouméa host international competitions which attract the top international windsurfers. The areas of Poé (Bourail) and Ténia (Boulouparis) are also well-known in local windsurfing circles. Hiring quality equipment is easy.
Kitesurfing
Since 2001 the Kiteboard Pro World titles have been held in New Caledonia, and the Territory has proved itself among the best in the world in this discipline. Sainte-Marie bay is a favourite spot all year round for people who enjoy this exciting sport. Classes for beginners as well as more advanced levels are also available.
