It is possible to be married in New Caledonia, but there are conditions that need to be met under French law. For example, one of the future spouses must reside in New Caledonia for one month prior to the wedding or have at least one month continuous residency in the community/region chosen for the marriage.
Weddings for non-residents can be organised. The marriage will be endorsed by a marriage certificate BUT will have no legal value. The one month residency requirement will not apply. Often, foreigners who opt for this type of ceremony have already been married legally in their country of residence.
