Other Islands - Discover a NEW Paradise
The world's largest lagoon is home to some of the most beautiful islands on earth. New Caledonia is surrounded by a myriad of small coral islands and atolls which are highly seductive and often deliciously... deserted !
The Islets
Just a few kilometers from the shore, many islets are easily accessible by boat or taxi boat. The closest is Duck Island, just a few minutes from Anse Vata Beach, featuring an underwater path that gives you an amazing experience of the marine world.
Coral Palms Island Resort
l’Ilot Maitre is an enchanting islet at the heart of a magnificent 200 acres marine reserve, only 15 min from the heart of Noumea. The luxurious and exclusive new resort harmoniously blends into the natural curve of the white sandy beach, reflecting itself in the lagoon’s crystalline waters. The facilities are superb with accommodation in spectacular overwater bungalows or beautiful garden bungalows.
Duck Island (Ile aux Canards)
A small island playground offshore from Anse Vata in Nouméa, Ile aux Canards is a popular base for beach and water activities and an excellent site for snorkelling. The island's leisure hut hires snorkelling equipment, deck chairs and umbrellas, while a café serves light meals and drinks. There is also an 'underwater walkway' where snorkellers can follow interpretive signs through the marine life. Ile aux Canards is reached by water taxi from Nouméa or by boat, yacht or windsurfer.
Amedeee Island (Ilot Amédée)
One of New Caledonia's 'must do' day trips, Amédée is a tiny islet on the barrier reef, dominated by its 1865 lighthouse which was constructed in Paris and sent to New Caledonia by Napoleon. It takes about 45 minutes by fast cruiser to reach the island and enjoy its white beaches, excellent snorkelling, swaying palms and castaway atmosphere. The day excursion includes lunch and cultural entertainment, barrier reef cruise and glass-bottom boat to view the island’s marine reserve.
Tenia Island (Ilot Tenia)
Just one hour north of Noumea you will discover a spectacular marine paradise. Visit Bouts-d'Brousse in the beautiful pristine marine park of Tenia Island. Enjoy the Tenia Day Trip with a full day as you explore the marine park, including guided snorkelling, snorkelling equipment, snacks and cold drinks. Cruise with the dolphins that frequent these peaceful waters, dive, surf or windsurf. Accommodation can be arranged or take advantage of the free camping facilities.
